Thomas Jefferson’s Colonial Apple Dumplings
Thomas Jefferson loved French cuisine, but he also enjoyed classic American treats. These Colonial Apple Dumplings are a simple and fun dessert kids can help make—just like treats enjoyed in Jefferson’s time!

Ingredients:
2 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
1 sheet of refrigerated pie crust (or homemade dough)
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
2 tbsp butter, cut into small pieces
1 egg, beaten (for brushing)
Honey or maple syrup (optional, for drizzling)
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Peel and core the apples, then cut them into halves.
Mix butter, sugar, and cinnamon, then sprinkle the mixture inside each apple half.
Wrap the apples in small sections of pie crust, pinching the edges to seal.
Place on a baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Drizzle with honey or maple syrup and enjoy!
